Blue Reverie

As the clouds dance their pas de deux
In the blue reverie of the night sky,
Moonglow reveals the spirit of you,
And my heart is lifted up so high.

In the blue reverie of the night sky,
Stardust mingles with the shooting stars,
And my heart is lifted up so high
Above the treetops, so very far.

Stardust mingles with the shooting stars.
Birds serenade with gentle lullabies
Above the treetops, so very far
As wistful tears sting my weary eyes.

Birds serenade with gentle lullabies,
Invoking memories from long ago.
As wistful tears sting my weary eyes,
A restless breeze blows through my window.

Invoking memories from long ago,
My senses stir within, the past reborn.
A restless breeze blows through my window,
Imparting sweet essence of apples and corn.

My senses stir within, the past reborn,
Walking hand in hand through fields of gold.
Imparting sweet essence of apples and corn,
Countless chapters remain unwritten, untold.

Walking hand in hand through fields of gold,
The autumn colors paint their brilliant hues.
Countless chapters remain unwritten, untold.
Oh, to have just one more day with you!

The autumn colors paint their brilliant hues
As amber sun plays in periwinkle skies.
Oh to have just one more day with you!
I have much more to say than a final goodbye.

As amber sun plays in periwinkle skies,
My heart breaks with the call of the solitary loon.
I have much more to say than a final goodbye,
But the hour of parting has come too soon.

My heart breaks with the call of the solitary loon,
Moonglow reveals the spirit in you.
But the hour of parting has come too soon
As the clouds dance their pas de deux.

Little Bird

Little Bird

Summertime reigns supreme
when honeysuckle sun gleams
only in my wildest dreams
or so it seems…

For I was born to be free
gliding on wings of agility
as I sail across the distant sea
a voice on the wind calls to me…

Little bird, little bird, soar high!
dance with the butterflies
never ever question why
don’t you stop ‘til you reach the sky…

Remember, no matter where you are
the night will take you far
when the sun meets the sandbar
time for a head full of stars…

Sky morphs to incandescent black
comets flicker from their track
as my tiny body goes slack
now don’t look back…

Little bird, little bird, soar high!
dance with the butterflies
never ever question why
don’t you stop ‘til you reach the sky…

Tears on Cobblestone

Tears on Cobblestone

The night descends slowly
in the mottled fog and mist.
Clouds bow to the angry horizon,
and a sense of dread persists.

Gray supersedes the rainbow,
rendered mute and colorblind.
When the cold rain finally falls,
dark thoughts seep from my mind.

I would have traded my own life
to spare your suffering and pain.
But reality rained down upon me,
and a martyr has nothing to gain.

I don’t want to show my face;
I have tried in earnest to hide.
We are all like the bright moon,
and we all have our darker side.

I am no angel, I am no innocent…
I am just a sinner black as night.
Wandering in endless purgatory;
left here alone, shivering in fright.

As the blood flows from cold veins,
my tears fall on the cobblestone.
My spirit releases to the wind,
And I am going home…

Stairway to the Stars

Stairway to the Stars

He speaks to me from an anguished past,
His gentle words wash my troubles away.
Lone spirit walking with a wooden crook,
Tending sheep in woolen clouds of gray.

He beckons me to pastoral meadows
Where white tail deer frolic in the rain.
Cool winds to soothe my fevered skin,
A healing balm to soothe my pain.

I know you are out there somewhere,
I feel you up there in night skies afar.
Do you have a beacon to shine the way?
Do you have a stairway to the stars?

I look toward the blue ridge mountains,
Where a solemn sunset begins to glow.
His voice echoes in the strains of music
A song of sorrow that we used to know.

All I ever wanted was to dance in the sun,
Free from my worries and free from strife.
You led me to that place of serenity,
You promised me magic, gave me life.

I know you are out there somewhere,
I feel you up there in night skies afar.
Do you have a beacon to shine the way?
Do you have a stairway to the stars?

I do believe that second chances exist,
For I see your smile defy the foggy mist.
But I hear that rumble of that distant train.
I lost you once -- don’t leave me again.

I know you are out there somewhere,
I feel you up there in night skies afar.
Do you have a beacon to shine the way?
Do you have a stairway to the stars?
